Kicks and punches from beyond – Is she possessed?!
Earlier this year when I found out I was expecting again I was filled with an assortment of feelings. Nervousness, anxiety, and happiness, but the one thing I looked forward to the most was feeling my baby move. I remembered hours upon hours sitting at home with Elizabeth watching and feeling her roll across my belly.
I was looking so forward to that feeling again, and only 16 weeks into my pregnancy I had started feeling those occasional punches and kicks. Each week as my baby boy grew I felt his increased movement and it put me at ease knowing that my boy was healthy.
That feeling slowly subsided though… the closer I approached my due date the more he started controlling my body in ways that I never would have imagined. I remember walking through Target one day with my sister and falling into her while walking down an aisle because he had suddenly moved to the other side of my belly! Another time I was sitting in a meeting at work (in the 2nd row) when Colm decided to make an attempt to escape the confines of my belly. A manager giving a presentation at the front of the room saw the attempt and I wondered for a second if his eyes were going to stay inside his head!
These are just a few little stories that have taken me by complete surprise. I knew from the beginning that my boy would most likely be a little bit larger than Elizabeth, but I wasn’t completely prepared for the drastic difference in size. I’ve tried multiple times to keep track of the number of times he’s knocked me out of my chair, but I ran out of fingers and toes!
I remember my doctor telling me to be extra cautious the further along I got because my center of gravity would change and I would notice myself becoming a tad bit clumsier. I took her advice to heart and found myself able to carry myself extremely well with Elizabeth. With Colm however, I feel that my runway abilities have been completely overthrown by a baby boy bent on the destruction of my catwalk!

We’ll get you a chair with side bars and a seat belt! Just as soon as I clean up the mess.
